AMD FX 8150 Eight core processor

When doing what?

Depending on the ambient temperature where my system is at (a different room), it will idle on stock air down to 5°C and it can easily top 50°C when stressing it with something like Prime95.

When the ambient temperature is closer to 24° C, the processor generally idles down to about 10° C.

The software I am using to monitor the temperatures is Hardware Monitor by CPUID:

It shouldn't exceed 50C, the system doesn't like those kind of temps much at all...it will operate above 50C, but you need to be mindful that it really needs to run in the 35-45C range to see optimal performance under load. A better cooling setup would be good...if you have a good air cooler, look at adding 1-2 case fans to increase exhaust from the case.

I believe AMD lists the maximum temperature for the 8150 as 70°C, so I'm not sure where you're coming from, 8350rocks. The stock cooler should be sufficient, unless you are running in an environment with high ambient temperatures.

Since I can't seem to locate anything on AMD's site to validate this, I'll recommend the 61°C as listed by CPU-world:

Well the maximum operating temperature for the AMD FX-8150 is 65 Celsius or 149 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything higher than those temperature readings could mean trouble.

I know I'm late with my response, but thanks for the feedback. I purchased a better heat sink/fan combination from Cooler Master. My system runs beautifully now. Thanks everyone!
