AMD FX-8300 temps

i have an amd fx-8300 overclocked at 4.2 and when i run prime95 and hwmonitor where do i look for my cpu tems in the cpu package or the motherboard ?

There should be a Thermometer looking Icon with FX 8300 next to it showing you three temps.
Mine usually sit at 15/15/17 degrees celsius on the 8300 at idle

CPU core temp is what you need to watch. Some temp monitoring apps don't specify what you are actually watching. Try AMD Overdrive. It will show Temperature Margins (TM). TM is how much room you have left until you reach the danger zone...so to speak. The smaller the TM number, the hotter the core(s).

If you have your FX-8300 @ 4.5GHz, you must have gotten a high-binned CPU. The 8300, 8320, 8350, 8370, 9370, 9590, etc are all the same chip. Just lower or higher binned.

as clutch said use amd overdrive thermal margin.

I personally recommend not going closer to 10c to max temp (lower the thermal margin the hotter the cpu is)
