I'm planning on upgrading my PC and I got a FX 8320 from Amazon; got a good deal on it ($139.99). I don't have a compatible motherboard, and I needed an upgrade anyway, so I'm planning on getting the ASUS M5A97 LE R 2.0 to be able to use the processor. What I want to know is; does the motherboard support that processor out of the box, or do I need to update the BIOS that it comes with? And, if I do need to update the BIOS, can I do it with just a USB drive, even if the motherboard doesn't recognize the processor?

That MB does support that CPU since BIOS revision 1006, and I am assuming that if you purchase the board now, it should ship with at least that BIOS revision if not newer.

Unfortunately that MB doesn't support "USB BIOS Flashback" where you can upgrade the BIOS without a CPU.

Thanks to both of you! I didn't know that there even was a way to upgrade the BIOS without a CPU- for future reference, what is the cheapest AM3+ socket motherboard that does support that?
