Hello all, i have an amd fx 8320 on a msi 970a g46 and i was a little curious about my CPU's watt usage, i logged it in CPUID HWmonitor and during games where my cpu got up to 90% usage my max wattage only went u p to 56 watts, now is this underpowering my cpu or is it not a problem. i have a 750 watt psu and an r9 280 so im not even close to my power limit.

I there any lag in games from this? If not then this seems fine! MY cpu is rated for 95 Watt and when I put a stress test on it uses anywhere from 40 watt to 85 watt which is not near my TDP. I believe it saves more power? But I haven't experienced any issues.

Hope this helps :)

As you can see, a FX 8320 under full load pulls up to 200W... Try running something like Prime95 and see what happens with the power draw. Also, what PSU do you have? You can have a 1000W PSU, if it isn't a quality brand, there's no point.
Don't run Prime95 too long though, your board doesn't seem to have amazing VRM Cooling, so watch out for that. Which might be a problem if it starts thermal throttling.

i got a max of 58 watts using prime 95 and i get pretty decent performance in games but idk if it performs similarlly to other fx8320s that use more power. and my psu is a pretty cheap kingwin 750w. would a new psu provide more power to the cpu?
