Amd fx 8320 stuck on max frequency when idle HELP

Hi, i am currently using a fx 8320 cpu and the frequency is stuck at 3700 MHz constantly. I tried switching to balanced performance mode but the idle frequency is still stuck at 3700. I know i can turn down the frequency manually using catalyst control center but that would be a pain to do every time i game. Isnt the cpu frequency supposed to downclock when the system is idle? I dont get it...

your frequency isn't supposed to go down when idle, only your temps, the frequency may go down if your cpu has a turbo clock, that will kick iin when it is at full capacity, but other than that it shouldn't go down past base frequency

The temperatures does not decrease when on idle either... that was the problem. But when i manually decreased the frequency from 3700 to 2900, the temperatures decreased drastically...
I read that the amd fx series are supposed to downclock itself when idle.

that's about what it should be doing at idle, the fx series isn't exactly the coolest cpu out there. there is a reason people call them space heaters 😛

Is Cool and Quiet mode enabled in BIOS?

Frequency should change when cores are not loaded. It idles at 1400 MHz.
