AMD FX 8350 AM3+ and MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard

Hi Peeps.

I thought that I just give some feedback of the system I built as I see there is a lot of treads asking about compatibility between the MOBO and CPU ect:

System:

AMD FX 8350 AM3+ CPU
MSI 970 Gaming MOBO
32 GIG 1600 Mghz RAM
Gigabyte GTX 970 GPU
Thermaltake Liquid Cooling 3.0 Pro
1TB Seagate 7200 RPM
2TB Seagate 7200 RPM
Thermaltake Power Supply 730Wat
Thermaltake Chaser case ( Blue )

And the result is????.... No problems, the system is running smoothly and stressed the temp doesn't exceed 58degrees on idle is hits 21. Running battle field like a champ and no lag what so ever. I did a 3D Bench mark 11 and scored 11494 points don't know if it is good but looking at the some stats on 3D Marks site the lowest scoring pc which hit spot number 100 scored 16000 or s. So given this I personally feel this isn't bad.
So overall the compatibility between the hardware is great and it is a pretty fast system.
Just though id share if anyone was wondering.

What was this PC designed for other than gaming and how is it working out. I'm only asking because 32GB of RAM is very excessive, leaving me to believe you must be doing something else with it as well.

All the other operations are fine, it runs smoothly, downloads are superfast and installations just as fast. Overall the pc is fast in all aspects. I ran battlefield on ultra graphic settings and there is no lag what so ever and the game looks great.

I purely use the PC as a gaming PC and surfing the web and I watch a lot of YouTube.

I know 32 gig is excessive and im not going to lie about it. I went with 32gig ram because I didn't want to leave any stone unturned and I wanted a pc that would not in any manner lag or struggle to run applications and thus I decided to fill up the RAM slots.

I didn't want to go bigger on the CPU as if read and heard cooling becomes a issue at a point and the CPU I selected was mainly due to me being a AMD fan and I know what they can do.

Just finish building my pc, everything run fine.

except 1 thing it response late like 2seconds behind sometime considering it an 8 core cpu., but after i run prime 95, where my pc cpu were utilise
too 94%-95%. i try to run some game, ya, more demanding task running it, it open up the really fast, and i was surprise. really surprise. maybe it just my feeling.

my pc build.

-Amd Fx 8350 black edition,
-MSI 970 Gaming MoBo
-8 GB kingston Savage 1600MHZ CL9
-Sapphire Ati 7730 2GB GDDR3
-CM Seidon 120v cooling
-160Gb samsung HDD(windowed) 7200Rpm
-1 Tb WD Black 7200rpm
-Aerocool KCAS 700 watts power supply

-another thing is that the hdd is always at 100%(samsung-Windowed) when opening some task. probably need SSD. haha.

anyway the pc runs fine no problem. the cpu runs at 22C-24C on idle, throw some game such as dota 2, Battlefield 4, COD AW, Middle Earth just to name a few, runs at 27C-35C sometime at 38C, the fans Is utilise at 25% speed rate, on heavy load at most at 40%.

-pretty cool heh, i think it because i apply the thermal compound all over the cpu( u need to use card or any equivalent things to spread the compound evenly and thin on the cpu).

-this shows it have deny all the shit talker saying the fx8350 hve heat problem all. Even on stock cooling it still manage at 41C-44C on heavy load games, as i say before.

-btw the watt usage statistic of fx(cause a lot of money(electricbill)/year) is bullshit, any game cant utilise all of it core leaving only 4 core totally idle, some are at 5 core idle. this make the cpu wont even use the full power, therefore the power usage also is less.

Thats because your CPU is regulating itself to deter excess heat and power use. If this is a problem you can always set the governor of your CPU a little higher on the low end. Or you can disable power saving features but be warned this can cause the premature death of your CPU.

It's one of the best really, usual issues with any of the FX CPU's such as the 8350 that I have seen only occurred on lower end Mobos. Whether I'm building an Intel system or AMD I always go with one of Asus' Sabertooth or ROG, or MSI's gaming series.

Absolutely. The VRM is the hardest point for stable AMD FX CPU's, and MSI Gamiming motherboards have great heatsinks. From here just be concerned about your cases airflow.

I was wondering if there were any bios updates needed when you first booted the PC with the FX8350 and msi 970 gaming am3+ atx. I was wondering because I read somewhere that the mobo chipset may need a bios update prior to the use of the and fx 8350. Thanks.

It should, just about the only difference should be features. The CPU architecture was made in 2009, but has had some minor improvements, nonetheless the chipset is the same.
