I am stuck between the AMD FX-8350 CPU (8x 4.00GHz/8MB L2 Cache) or Intel® Core™ i5-3570K Pro as far as processors go and can't decide which one would suit better. I am looking to build a gaming pc in which i can try to play mostly on max settings. Games like Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite, FarCry 3, basically big games like that. If the system I am trying to build can't do max settings at good FPS then I am willing to play on ultra. I want to marry one of those processors with the AMD Radeon HD 7970 - 3GB or a NVIDIA graphics card obviously. However I don't really know what would be the best competition to the 7970. I am looking to only spend around or under 1400$.

The 7970 is a good card, if you want an amd gpu, there's the 670 gtx from nvidia, if you want a nvidia cpu, but the 7970 has a slightly better performance and offers two free games(crysis 3 and bioshock infinite).
I would go with the i5-3570k as the cpu for it.

And is there a better motherboard than others? Or do you just decide the motherboard depending on the other things you get? That's another thing I am confused about.
