So I've decided I'm going to select the AMD FX-8350 for my first time build for two main reasons. It's price. And it's performance which I have heard is really good. I'll be using it for gaming but also my coursework for college at times. I've heard the stock coolers for the AMD CPU's aren't great though and an upgrade is needed if I want good temps from it. I don't really want to go need water cooling but I want to keep the price of my build down. Here's the main three questions I need answered if possible.

1. What's your opinion of the AMD FX-8350?

2. What's a good motherboard for the AMD FX-8350 that also supports SLI and has decent onboard audio(don't want to fork out for a soundcard immediately)?

3. What is a good, reasonably cheap and efficient cooling option for the AMD FX-8350?

Thanks in advance for the help :)

I happen to have a 8350 and I love it!, It can run very hot with the stock cooler, so I would recommend getting a closed loop water cooling set if you plan on overclocking, if not then a cooler master hyper 212 evo is a great option. I use this cooler and my temps are never that hot. It only costs about $35 and works amazingly, and if you want even better performance you can upgrade the stock fan. Th motherboard that I use is the Asus Sabertooth 990fx r.2. It supports crossfire and SLI and is very durable, but will set you ack by about $180. Since there are a lot of motherboards out there, just make sure to get one with a 990fx chipset, as it was designed to work with the 8 core cpus. Also the 8350 will not bottleneck your other...

The fx 8350 is quite a good processor. It uses more power and is a little hotter than something like an i5, but for the price is very good and with either a closest loop watercooler, or a mid range air cooler will be good enough to oc it.

Im still using an older amd-FX-8150 and have not had any problems. It should be easy to overclock. My older chip hit a wall around 4.2GHz and I had to up the voltage quite a bit to get it stable at 4.42 GHz.

My answer to question #3 is the Cooler Master Nepton 140XL closed loop liquid cooler for $99. Even if you are not overclocking it will keep your CPU very cool, quiet, and extend the life of the CPU
