I already have an am3+ motherbaord with a amd fx 4350 in it and its proving to hold me back in a few games like bf1 with the cpu usage at 100% and gpu usage at only around 60%. I do know the 960 is a bit over kill for a potatoish cpu like the 4350 but the 960 at the time was a great price so i got it. So which cpu should I get? 8300 or 8350? What is the performance gain for each?what has better price to performance? and how long will it last me before another upgrade? Any information helps, thanks a ton in advance.

system spec's:
motherboard-760GMa-P34fx
ram- 8gbs ddr3 1600 mhz
gpu-zotac 960
cpu-fx4350
psu-evga 600watt 80 plus bronze
storage-western digital blue

Ok, but the 4350 ive been using is a 125w and its been working fine. Also the 8300 is only a 95w cpu so should i just go with that because i want something that will last me awhile and with directx 12 being better about utilizing more than 4 cores i figured the amd's 8 core cpus were my best bet? correct me if I'm wrong.

Not anymore honestly. If you're going to upgrade, you should save your money until you can get a Core i5-6500 or the next gen AMD CPU when / if that ever happens. You won't see much difference upgrading from one CPU to the other, if any. You're better off waiting for the next AMD platform or buying a current gen Intel CPU.

The fact you're not overclocked is having the biggest impact on your setup. Don't cheap out on your motherboard! Lesson learned. You could have 40% more performance right now, but you chose to cheap out in the beginning. I hope you realize you now get what you pay for.

The 4350 has better single-core performance than the 8 core lineup. No CPU upgrade will help you other than moving up to i5/i7.

If you can find a cheap FX motherboard locally then buy it, overclock, and reap the benefits. Otherwise start saving your pennies like I am.

* On a side note- If you think you are being throttled, it is most likely the naked VRM's on your motherboard. They have no heat-sinks, and as such are roasting like an egg on a Cali sidewalk.
