I updated to a amd fx 8370 and i downloaded amd overdrive to see my temps and it says my thermal margin is 51.1c is that good or bad cuz i seen that the thermal margin is suppose to go down as it gets hot

Solution
Yes, 51C for a thermal margin is very good...although that's probably at idle. You'll want to check your margins when you're using it -- don't be surprised if you see that margin dip down to 10-20C.

EDIT: AMD Overdrive is much more reliable than a lot of the other temperature-monitoring software, as it tells you exactly how much is left (i.e. when your thermal margin hits 0C, it means you're at the safe limit). This is in contrast to some others; for example, I also use CoreTemp to monitor, but a) it measures CPU temp instead of the margin, & b) any temps it reads that are under 40C are actually unreliable, due to how it reads from the sensor.
Thermal margin shows how much temperature is left before it reaches TJ max or thermal limit. I think 60C is the throttle point, and 70C is the shutdown point. Use a program that monitors temps straight up, not just thermal margin.

i use core temps also and it says under load i am around 40-50 on all cores and on core temp it says my tj max is 80 but my max safe temp is 61

40-50 under load is totally fine for that CPU, as nearly all FX CPUs run hotter than normal. I would be worried if it got even close to 60, but with those temps it seems fine, just a little on the warm end. Not much to worry about.
