So im going to upgrade my gaming pc..and i was wondering if upgrading from amd fx 9370 to i5 4590 is worth it..with a new mobo ofcourse...but here's the thing..right now i have the gigabyte 990XA ud3 mobo.which is not compatible with the fx 9370...so my 9370 runs at 3.8ghz instead of 4.4 also i have the evo 212 so it's really bad for the fx 9370...so i have alot of heat issues and fps drops and stuttering in certain games because of the heat...so of course getting the i5 will solve all these issues but will i see any fps boost?i might have a stable one now but will i see a boost???i play game like bf4,gta 5,witcher 3,fallout 4,star citizen, guild wars 2,wow,smite and bf5,cod infinite warfare, doom, dishonored 2 and such when they come out...aside from heat issues being fixed and the stable fps...will i see an actual boost?

Yes, upgrade to the i5. The 9xxx series is power hungry and produces a metric butt load of heat.

Whether or not you see a noticeable boost in gaming FPS will depend on what graphics card(s) you have. However, if the CPU is the bottleneck (and it probably is) then you will see an increase up to the point where your graphics card(s) reach their limit.

i would get the newer i5 that going to drop latter this year from intel. it going to be the refind skylake cpu. with it and ddr4 ram you should have a pc that around for a bit. the older haswell cpu and mb are getting harder to find and there cost are going up more then skylake rig.

I'd get a 990FX based board for the AMD that supports the 9370. It's a good CPU, heat asside. Plus it's a lot cheaper than a whole new system.

Take the old motherboard, your old CPU and sell it off as a pair to pay for the new motherboard. Free upgrade till the new Skylake and Zen stuff comes out.

I totally agree with Gondo. Get a 990FX motherboard, and maybe a better rad, like a Noctua NH-D15S that you can use again in the future.
If you get a i5 (great processor of course) you'll have to change also your RAM.

Well the Intel is better, and the Haswell stuff is DDR3 so there is no need to swap RAM. But if changing everything out, you might as well get a Skylake system. The best solution is to get a new motherboard for the AMD and enjoy. It won't bottleneck your video card. Pick up a nice heatsink that will work on your future system so it's not wasted money. A Cryorig or Noctua is nice.

There are too many people in the camp of "Intel is better therefore AMD sucks". Just like saying an Acura is garbage since Rolls Royce is better. A pair of rollerskates is garbage, an Acura is a good car.

There are too many kids with a Phillips screwdriver with money burning a hole in their pocket thinking they know what they are doing.

True @Gondo. I didn't notice it was a Haswell i5. Thought it was a newer one.
The FX is still a very good CPU, well in the game. It has brute force, 8 cores, ...
The expense of changing the CPU and the motherboard (and maybe the RAM if Skylake) to gain a few (few only) FPS, is up to Gasser and his wallet.
I would wait at least to see how the Zen works out in this jungle.
