Hello.
I have an AMD FX 9590 with MSI 990FXA GD65 bought a week ago.
My system Spec's :
CPU : AMD FX 9590
MoBo : MSI 990FXA-GD65
RAM : Kingston HyperX Blu 1600 Mhz 16 GB (4 * 4 GB) 9-9-9-24
GPU : ASUS AMD Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II 4 GB memory
Cooler : Deepcool FrostwinV2
PSU : Green GP700A-HP
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 5400 RPM 1 TeraBytes
SSD : Transcend TS128SSD320 128GB
I have used MX-4 Thermal paste.
My CPU temp goes over 88 C while idle and my computer turns off rapidly after 2 seconds! when I run wPrime or Prime 95 it goes to 88 C faster. it takes less than 1 minute and my PC shuts off.
Is DeepCool Frostwin v2 enough for FX 9590? What should I do? Please help me.

Solution

Yep, none of the 220w cpus are on the cpu compatibility list.

That CPU is a 220W 'hunk o' burning love'

How are you measuring temps. Use AMD's Overdrive to get Thermal Margin. All other non-AMD methods are suspect.

That is a fairly weak cooler and is totally unsuitable for 220W+ of lava. You needs something very serious. Google and search. That CPU is very problematic due to the heat and other thermal issues.

That cpu cooler is inadequate for a 220w CPU. The 9590 is a heat generating monster and needs a massive cooler. For a CPU cooler the only air coolers I can think of that would stand a chance are the Cryorig R1 and the Noctua D15, for an AIO you'd want a 280mm radiator or larger, or a big custom loop water cooler. Another problem you are going to eventually run into is the PSU, it is low quality(it's a relabeled high power made by Sirtec) and inadequate. For a 9590 and a 290x you want atleast a top quality 750w unit not a mediocre 630w unit posing as a 700w unit, AMD recommends a 1000w. I hope you live in a cold environment as that system is going to make a great heater.

First of all i will need you to answer some questions:
1. Have u applied normal amount of Thermal Paste.
2. Are you messing with overclocks.
3.Have you remove plastic cover from DeepCool Frostwin heatsink which is touching the processor.

is Deepcool Gamer storm Assassin OK for FX 9590?

Yes I have removed the plastic cover and I haven't overclocked. I have applied enough thermal paste. I had an FX 8350 with MSI 970A-G45 but last week I changed my CPU and Motherboard. With the old CPU there were no problems even when OC.

That was a 140W CPU This one can go to over 300W when pushed hard. You need a MUCH better cooler.

If you put your old CPU in this motherboard, and overclock the snot out of it, you will be just about as fast and a lot cooler.

AFAIK, that motherboard is NOT suitable for a FX9590 either., you need the GD80 for 200+ W.

It would be an improvement, but you might not be satisfied with it. You really ought to consider a 140mm or 2x120mm AiO liquid cooler, or the Noctua D15, if you can find one.

AMD's FX-9xxx processors are very problematic. They're brutal on other system components, and often outperformed by cheaper i5's which can be cooled silently with their stock cooler and run happily on a power supply with half the wattage. If it's looking like you're going to need to drop $200 to get it cooled and stable (power supply upgrade), it might be wise at that point to consider moving to an Intel platform.

Yes, they were because you are able to use the four modules. Had you mentioned rendering earlier we would have factored that into our comments. The default is to assume gaming in the absence of other information, so now my overclock your 8250 to 4.8Ghz if you can advice is even better.
