Hello guys,

On the web I never found something about this CPU aircooled, so I'm here I'm just writing my little experience.

First, I apologyze for my bad english, I'm good to write "yes" or "no" and "of course", but full phrases are a different metter to me... have patience, please :)

A couple of days ago, after weeks of googleing on reviews and reviews, I switched from water cooled system (Switfech H220) to air cooled heatsink I had the pleasure to find on amazon: I took interest in this PH-TC14PE for low-noise and low-temperature rating, even compared to ultracool Noctua we all know about.

The question is absolute: why switching? well, I'm in the way of customizing all my water cooling system for I'm not satisfied of what I had. I always was curious about 9590 behaviour with a good air cooler an, because I needed it for other various reasons, I gave it a try.

PRO:

really easy to mount
2 stock silent fans , brackets for a third fan already included
stock thermal compound Phanteks PH-NDC "high-purity nano diamond like particles"
silent, silent, silent...

CONS:

lost 2 dimm slots due to heatsink size: perhaps very tiny memory cards could be used, but I'm not so sure
I had to put outer fan in a higher position than intended, because my ram module are really high (Corsair Dominator Premium)
Case doesn't close for the reason above
higher idle temp (but really, who care?)

picture from the top:

How I lost 2 ram slots, and how I had to mount the outer fan:

And this one is too cool to keep in my pocket:

And here are the numbers:

Environment temp: , 25°C (+3°C than previous sampling)

Idle temp: 38°C (+5°C then previous cooler)

Gaming temp: 51°C (-10°C then previous cooler)

Stress test max: Prime95, 30 minutes, 64°C max, but continuously floating between 61°C and 64°C (previous cooler: not passed, always slowly raising over 70°C)

Writing this post: 41°C :)

Fan Noise: 600 rpm: 36db, 1200 rpm: 50db (keystroking on the keyboard: 61db) - thanks to android app Smart Tools Sound Meter

Well, considering environment temp being higher by 3°C, we all can do some calculations.

My conclusion: Test passed

AMD FX-9590 can be aircooled really well and Phanteks PH-TC14PE is a perfect in air cooling solution.

And, for cool bros, you can even buy an outstanding example of fancifulness :)

thanks for your attention,

Amazingly I have cooled (for now),my 9590 with a noctua c12 se 14 I had the cross hair v formula mobo but it died with the h100i I have no clue what happened to it but when I touched the heatsink inside they were really hot so I traded for a sabertooh mobo and decided to use this noctua top down cooler to cool the mobo components hoping it works I wasn't sure the idle temps of the 9590 but I got around mid 30s at iddle not bad for such cooler however I installed a fan right above the cooler blowing directly into the cooler witch I think it helps a lot I haven't done any testing yet just installation of software I'm sure it'll go high as I have dual 780s acx on the system also 61c should be bad for this cpu

I previously had Swiftech H220 water cooler and it was really bad: while Idle temp were cooler, prime95 showed system not safe because of CPU temp permanently rising over 70 and 75°C (while Asus Monitor give warning at 65°C). Also, gaming temp were always around 61°C (playing Wildstar, that uses CPU for about 40% max). Instead, this cheaper heatsink really run the flow!

and about cables, don't look at the mess in front of the video card, while you are completely right, my PC is still "work in progress" and it is kind of a a blind spot for airflow... I still have only stock fans :/

I honestly thought this CPU wasn't going to work on air cooler the H100i was a good cooler but the problem is that I needed a fan to blow directly to the VRM and motherboard components I don't think there is a better blow down cooler than the Noctua I really haven't tested to out as I don't do stress testing just gaming with some video conversion I currently getting mid 30s on temps lets hope it doesn't go too high anything in the 60 for AMD is not healthy at all

I've been able to cool my 9590 very well with a Hyper 212 EVO in a push/pull fan configuration.
CPU idle temp is about 30. Under load between 45-55.
Also have 3 Antec 120mm intake fans. An Antec 120mm top mounted exhaust fan directly above the heat sync and a 140mm exhaust fan directly behind the cpu pull fan. I think this config accelerates the air flow fast enough to keep the 9590 nice and chilled. Under load my exhausts air is still pretty cool.

the fact is, due to high demands from this particular CPU, VRM needs to be cooled as weel. Liquid cooling does not affect VRM temps and high loads bring temps very high in seconds. Air cooling provides VRMs a nice cooling boost: I mounted a 3rd 140mm fan on Phanteks heatsink and the whole tems really hit the floor!
