AMD FX CPU fan 5000RPM problem

My CPU is running at a cool 44C but the fan is running at 5000+rpm. I have an AMD FX-8320 processor with an ASUS MSM99FX Pro motherboard.

Even with simple internet browsing, the fan gets really upset and runs faster. Is there something I need to adjust or something I adjusted incorrectly?

I had an AMD Phenom II X4 965 that did the exact same thing. Very disappointed.

Your motherboard bios should have settings to adjust the fan speed profile.

Thats because the 965 and the 8320 use the exact same cooler, and both processors are rated for 125w.
AMDs stock coolers can barely keep temps down, and they run extremely loud in doing so. Pick up an aftermarket cooler.

What case?
Almost every quality case these days has a cutout in the motherboard tray for installing coolers. You shouldnt have to take out the motherboard.

Your case has that cutout.

You will see that very large hole under where your motherboard should be. Just take off the other side panel and boom, right at the backplate for the cooler.
