So, I recently built my first gaming computer and so far it's running alright. However, whenever I play SWTOR for some reason the CPU temperature has been higher than normal, getting up to 62-64°C and even spiking to 70+°C whenever I open up Open Hardware Monitor. The room I play in isn't very hot and it didn't always do this. Can anyone help?

AMD CPU's cannot tolerate the same levels of heat that Intel CPU's can.

I do not have a specific temperature for the FX-6300. But I do have these on my list.

FX8120/FX8150 (BULLDOZERS) -> 61'C
FX6100/FX4100 -> 70'C

So I would say it is most likely 70c. But you do not want to push that CPU beyond that. If you need to buy a better CPU cooler and fan, do it.

did you happen to put the thermal paste and heat sink on yourself? i will tell you to apply new thermal paste to the cpu chip, and if you are still getting the same temps, you need to buy a aftermarket cooler.

I just recently reapplied thermal paste yesterday. The odd thing is that before this, it was peaking at only 60-65 degrees Celsius while playing. My only guess is that maybe some air bubbles formed or something else.

.
the thing is 70C is not dangerous for temps underload, but its not great either. I can honestly say there might be some air bubbles or its not on correctly if your temps were lower before you applied it.

It doesn't stay at 70C, just spikes to it and then goes back down to around 60-66C. But you're probably right, do you know the best way to prevent air bubbles?
