Yes, most MBs for the FX series will support up to DDR3-2133 MHz memory in an overclocked state, so you could get quite a bit of extra performance for $9. It's worth it.

Just took a quick glance at Sleeping Dogs and Skyrim and they both look fine. My purpose for this PC is just to have a solid running functional desktop for minor gaming. I don't need it to be a powerhouse. I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something stupid or obvious that I might regret later.

Also, would 4GB ram be enough for this setup, or should I go for 8?

4GB will be borderline fine if you will only have the game window open when gaming.
If you have more than 2 monitors, and love to multitask, then 8GB will suit your needs.

I would recommend to get 2 sticks so that you can make use of dual channel.
-2 x 2GB = 4GB
-2 x 3GB = 6GB
-2 x 4GB = 8GB

8 GB typically isn't that much more than 4 anymore...so I would go with a 2x4 GB configuration. Get 1600MHz or 1866/2133 if you can find a bargain on either one. When I bought my RAM the DDR3-2400 RAM cost $8 more than the DDR3-1600...so I bought the 2400.

I found some Kingston HyperX on sale for $54, but it's 1600.

There's some G.Skill 2400 on sale for $63. Worth the extra $9?
