Hello everyone, first time posting here, however this issue has stressed me out to no end for the past 4 hours.

Recently a family member stated that after her computer went to sleep, she woke it up and she was getting no signal from her graphics card. After I took a quick glance at it, it seemed evident that her graphics card wasn't working. She was using an HDMI cord and it would not display. I switched the HDMI cord to the on board graphics and took a look at the device manager to see if it was detecting the graphics card. It was not. It only stated the Intel HD Graphics 4000 being listed. So I concluded that the graphics card was busted and gave up. Next day I thought it would be better to look at the hardware rather than her buying a new one, as she does a lot of gaming and needed it. I took the computer to my room and opened it up, nothing seemed out of place, looked in perfect condition. I strapped it to my wall, turned it on, and viola'! The fans were moving. However, there was still no display after trying HDMI, DVI, and VGA cables. So I caroused through the internet to see if I could find an easy solution. Mostly just found threads about people who didn't plug in their 8 pins, etc. Nothing that matched my problem. So I threw my GTX 750 TI in her motherboard, and sure enough, Got a signal. Okay, that crosses off the motherboard right? Next I put her AMD XFX R7770 in MY motherboard. WTF signal? Yes. Her graphics card works in my motherboard, and outputs a signal. So, the video card works. The motherboard works. Both confirmed.... wtf? That narrowed down my search a bit. I found people with sorta the same problem, people were saying it was a problem with the drivers. So I uninstalled all the drivers, reinstalled the new ones manually from the website (remember I can't auto detect them as the video card isn't detected at all). Once again, didn't worked. As a last ditch effort I went in BIOS to see if the motherboard was selecting onboard. Nope. Defaults to PEG, then goes to IGD. So I got fed up and just decided to format the hard drive and install windows 10, as she had not done that already, and there was tons of crap in her Windows 8. After installed a FRESH copy of Windows 10 on a FULLY FORMATTED hard rive, the video card. Still. Doesn't. Detect. Once again I threw the graphics card in my PC, where it worked fine. I am thoroughly confused, have no other options or ideas, and can not find anything on the internet.
P.S. After looking at reliability monitor when she first told me what was wrong, there was an Intel HD 4000 driver installed (for the onboard graphics) shortly before she walked away from her computer. There's nothing in the software installed that has anything to do with the other graphics card.

TLDR; Graphics card doesn't detect. Works in other PC. Other graphics card works in Motherboard. Fully formatted hard rive. Still doesn't work.

Well after 5 hours of wasted time, somehow my last thought before bed was to move it to the second PCIE slot... and guess what? It detected. Honestly I've never felt so bloody stupid in my life. I guess I didn't try that earlier because my 750 TI worked in the slot. I'd still like to know why the AMD stopped working in that slot so if anyone knows, let me know for future reference.
