AMD's Free Sync is a hoax. It was recently revealed that special hardware is actually required inside the monitor in order for Free Sync to actually work. This in turn makes Free Sync capable monitors just as expensive as Nvidia's G-Sync equipped monitors. What AMD doesn't want everyone to know is that Free Sync is actually not their idea at all, but is part of DisplayPort 1.2a and 1.3 standard capabilities to allow for full duplex communication between the monitor and graphics card. Bottom line, AMD was caught lieing about Free Sync and is now trying to cover it up.
