Will the fact that amd motherboards only have 2.0 slots be a bottleneck to cross and tri fire 290 setups running at 1440p and eventually 4k?

Solution
yea but you already have the best, although a 3770k would be better for a tri-cfx setup, just to keep in mind. but the 3570k will do perfectly fine with tri cfx (better than amd). as cfx has alot to do with the lanes on the motherboard. ie cfx on a x8x8x4 setup just isnt worth it, i would def just upgrade your board if it isnt good for tri cfx but you also have to think about heat under load as well. those 290 get hot in cfx configs.

damn... AMD boards are just sooo much cheaper. I could get a 9370 and a mobo that supports tri and quad fire for the price of an intel board...

That is awesome to see though.

Does the fact that 290s rely on the pcie slots solely instead of a bridge matter?

i dont believe so, but honestly im not that familiar with the new cfx setup. what i do know is the have a larger memory interface than the 7970s and since they are a7970 rebrand that maybe this is part of the way it was achieved, but not certain or if it would affect the cfx at all.
yea and the whole intel amd thing the 1150 is good for 2 card setups if you have 3 or 4 then you will have to pay a premium for a mobo with a plx as it is the only way to achieve x8x16x8 on those mobos the ones that say they are supported without the plx chip are x8x8x4 and i doubt you want a 700 dollar card running at x4...the 2011 socket handles 3 and 4 card setups better than all 3 but for a supported mobo and a 6core intel your looking at around 850 dollars so amd solution is tempting
this is the best mobo for what your looking for x16x8x8 on an amd platform...http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-crosshair-v-formula-z-atx-motherboard-2400mhz-socket-am3-/7008759.p?id=1218821196877&skuId=7008759

and a 9370 is just an overclocked 8350 so if you know how to overclock just get the 8350 and do your own clocks

yea true... I liked the 9590 because it is a stable overclock to 5 ghz. I have never overclocked before with the CPU, only my 7950 when I had one. It could overclock like a beast.

You were spot on though kitty, and ak47, just because I spend so much on GPUs doesnt mean I want to just shell out money everywhere :) gotta be efficient with my money in some spots... if it doesn't hamper my experience... with the 8350 I am afraid of bottlenecks, same as with the pcie 2.0 slots...

I like the Asus board though, I've been looking at them and that is one that caught my eye. AMD boards are amazing bang for the buck.

yea that's why it caught my eye... I've heard the 8320 can out overclock the 8350! But yea, I'll definitely be needing to decide if it is all worth it... will the jump for 4.4 ghz on the 9370 to the 5 ghz on the 9590 be a big difference with multi card set ups for high res gaming?

Or would even the 8350 suffice?

I love the look of ROG boards. I have a gigabyte board right now but my brother has an AMD 8350 and an asus board. He swears by asus

yea... I agree, ive thought it over and a mobo upgrade is what I'll be doing. I have two sapphire tri-x's, I'll get another and put a NZXT kraken on it. So far with two, heat isn't a problem, but 3 is pushing it big time, imho.

Gave you the best solution by the way. Thanks for the help and all.

Have you seen any charts showing 3 nonreference cards in trifire temps. I know regular 290s hit 95 by themselves so a chart of those wouldn't be a good comparison lol

glad i could helpand i havent but any builds i have seen with 3 and 4 all have them under water as i would imagine they would start throttling pretty quickly. the reference coolers was the problem with those as i have seen stories of the heatsink not properly seated and poor thermal paste.
