AMD next CPUs

Do you guys know on which socket will AMD build their next CPUs? I just don't want to waste money on motherboard if i wouldn't be able to upgrade CPU on the same board.

Their next CPU more than likely will use a brand new socket due to a large number of changes they plan on making with the next gen of CPU (14nm, simultaneous multithreading, DDR4, etc).

Unless you have the inside track at AMD, I doubt anyone will know.

The AM3 and AM3+ sockets have been around for a long time and if AMD's processor roadmap is to be believed, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they announced a new socket. In fact, it would probably be a requirement.

Rumors continue to circulate about an AM4 socket due to arrive in 2016 for the next generation of FX series processors. If you can wait until 2016 and are set on an AMD CPU, this may be your answer.

In the nearer future they may launch a new set of APU sockets, but it is doubtful that they will turn out an APU with sufficient processing power to defeat AM3+ or LGA 1150 sockets.
