AMD optimized g.skill trident z rgb

Hi

I would like to ask if there is any real benefit from using ryzen optimized trident z-s over the reguler ones. There's kinde meh accessibility to the amd ones in my country and they cost rougly 30% more.

The kits noted "AMD Ryzen" on them, are verified for AMD chipsets - and commonly use Samsung B-die for greater compatibility.

Is there a benefit? Potentially, yes. Especially on 1st Gen Ryzen.
Compatibility could be tough.... and, while most kits should just *work*, there's no guarantee of the higher speeds (above JEDEC standards 2133/2400MHz) - and Ryzen really does benefit from faster memory.

2nd Gen Ryzen, compatibility improved some.

I'm using a ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wifi) mobo with a r7 1700 with some borrowed 2400MHz running @2666MHz. I'm pretty sure 3200MHz rated g.skill kits would run better, the real question is does it worth the 30% price premium to get AMD optimized.

Any kit showing under "C7H-Memory-QVL-Ryzen-1st-Generation-Processors" will work at their rated speeds. Talking G.Skill specific, without knowing the part number.... I can't say for sure.

As for "worth it".... probably not. There will be kits listed on the QVL that are not noted as "AMD optimized".

Even so, assuming like for like (except for the "AMD optimized marketing) 3200MHz isn't going to give you dramatic gains vs 2666MHz in the vast majority of use cases anyway.

No guarantees, of course.... but even a non AMD optimized kit (that doesn't appear on the QVL) listed at 3200MHz should still be able to run at 2400MHz, probably even 2666MHz minimum......

Okay looked up the actual part no. on the QVL list (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR), seems like it is supported @3200, but the amd optimized is not on the list at all... I guess that's decided.
