AMD or Intel cpu

I am building a home/office computer for word processing, photoshop, and website building.

I prefer to have graphics onboard and avoid the expense of a graphics card for the games I ain't gonna play.

I hope to have it useful for five years.

What mobo and cpu combination do you recommend?

If build cost is $850 or less, I generally recommend AMD

If build cost is more than $850, I generally recommend Intel

I disagree if your budget is around ~$700 I recommend an Intel. Basically if you are planning on an FX 6300 just get an i3. They out perform the FX 6300 and have a better upgrade path.

Location is either Canada or US as I can source online from either.

My budget is low but not absolutely lowest price. Under 1000.00 to upgrade the current system.

Expandable to 8 or more but starting with 4 gigs of memory and a MB that can be upgraded.

The OS will be either Linux or Win7.(64 bit)

I am aiming for a silent (or very low noise) desktop machine.

I am considering the Fractal Design R4 case as the foundation.

I have a used ati Radeon HD 4770 I want to incorporate,

My current system has an Athlon ll 3 core 425 running at 2.7 GHz
