AMD or Intel

Hi, I have a PC I am looking to build, and the processor someone chose for me was a AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor, I was told AMD isnt the best for CPU's so, is there like a Intel i5 or i7 for about $120 dollars that would give me the same performance? or should I stick with the AMD?

Well thats a hard question to answer... Price per performance AMD is usually better. If you have the money to spend Intel would probably be a better bet. That FX is by no means an inferior processor, but there are better, from AMD and Intel.
