I'm over budget on my gaming pc and am looking at what I should sacrifice to make it under my budget. I was looking at maybe getting an amd processor so instead of my i5 with the gtx 770 gpu. Is this the right choice or should I stick with intel and get a 760.

Thats why we go with underdogs unless you are extreamly spoiled...........

AMD is not better for gaming!
It's just cheaper.
So if you care about budget very much, and don't plan on upgrading your video card later on, then drop to an AMD, at least a 6300 if you can afford it.
If you plan on upgrading later, stick to the intel.
What i5 was it?

Anything in close resembles from AMD gaming wise is their 8 core @ around 4GHz. (FX8350)
You can get FX8320 and overclock it but will need good board and cooler so it sort of balances the price.
I personally only recommend the FX for budget builds using the 6300 or for people that want to upgrade to 8 core and have good enough board to deal with them. Basically building new I would go with the I5.
