Hey,
This is the first time I've tried to pick all the components for a decent gaming pc. Any advice/feedback would be great :)

Thanks

In most tests the 965 and the FX-4100 test about the same, with a marginally slight advantage given to the 965. The 4300 edges out both of them - but just barely. Look at the benchmarks a bit closer.

Hey,
Thanks for the advice. I was considering the FX, but after a fair bit of reading and that's why I picked the 965, classic case of newer isn't always better I guess.

The budget in 450-500, and I'd be gaming at 720p :)

You will do well at that resolution

With the 7770 you could even drop the psu to the CX 430 and still have plenty of head room . Thats saves you $15 [ havent got pounds on my keyboard ]

If you have a case that will take an ATX motherboard you can use that $15 to get

Asus M5A97 R2.0

which is the most recent chip set , and will take future processors as well as the latest FX models if you decide to upgrade

For a few more $ you could also get this Asrock

which can crossfire, SLI etc etc
