It will support newer CPUs should you decide to upgrade and has more SATA ports and PCI slots.

Otherwise everything else looks good.

In most tests the 965 and the FX-4100 test about the same, with a marginally slight advantage given to the 965. The 4300 edges out both of them - but just barely. Look at the benchmarks a bit closer.

without knowing a budget , and the resolution of the monitor you'd have to guess to say if that was a sensible build or not

Thanks for the advice. I was considering the FX, but after a fair bit of reading and that's why I picked the 965, classic case of newer isn't always better I guess.

The budget in 450-500, and I'd be gaming at 720p

You will do well at that resolution


With the 7770 you could even drop the psu to the CX 430 and still have plenty of head room . Thats saves you $15 [ havent got pounds on my keyboard ]

If you have a case that will take an ATX motherboard you can use that $15 to get

which is the most recent chip set , and will take future processors as well as the latest FX models if you decide to upgrade

which can crossfire, SLI etc etc

It's an excellent GPU for the price. I'm thinking of getting one for my HTPC.
