Hey guys I just went into my BIOS on my Motherboard(can be seen in my profile), and The only thing i changed was my multiplier. I set it to x18, and my CPU is not running at 3.62ghz. I have 5 fans on my case with excellent airflow. I also have a 550w PSU with a radeon 4870. Everything seems to be running fine. I am on the stock cooler and heatsink, and my temps seem to be fine. I have been told before that a mild overclock like this will be fine with the stock heatsink, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks guys!

Well if anything its probably because Coll'N'Quiet is running so while the system is idle it downclocks the CPU to save energy and lower heat.

Run Prime 95 and check the speed in CPUz. Should max the CPU out to the top speed you have set.

If all else fails, recheck your update in the BIOS to make sure it has a 18x multipler.

Thanks for the reply, didn't really catch what you're trying to say in the last line. Coll'n'quiet seems to have been automatically disable now that i changed the multiplier. Even in idle it's always at 3600mhz. I ran prime95 and my temp barely hit 60c.

SOund good? Any ideas on how much more performance ile get? I ran some benchmarks and didn't score a ton more on CPU.

CnQ does save a bit of power by undervolting the CPU as it drops the multiplier which also allows the chip to run cooler at idle with a lower fan speed (Cool and Quiet!).
I also had the same problem of CnQ being disabled if I changed the multiplier and overcame this by using software to set the overclock (Gigabyte EasyTune 6 in my case) which still allows CnQ to work.

3.6 is not bad at stock voltage, I'm currently running 3.7@1.4v and can get 3.8@1.5v but the extra power and heat is not worth it.
