Edit: Please excuse my typo in the title :(

I just put together my first pc build ever and the temp of the cpu is worrying me.

As I am typing this with no programs running in the background, PC Wizard 2012 is telling me that the cpu is at 51 celsius while all cores are at 5ish % load.

Isn't this too high? I can also hear the stock cooler work really hard in there.

Extra Info:

AsRock 870 Extreme Rev. 2 mainboard
Cooler Master Elite 430 case (with one additional 80mm fan right at the mainboard)
Sapphire Radeon HD 6950

Thanks for any help.

Yes it already had the cooling paste applied and is fitted properly.

I know what I might have done wrong. The fan in the back of the case pulls in air instead of exhausting it, will turn it around and see how it goes.

Thanks. Just turned around the fan and the processor temp is already steadily climbing again.

Reached 50 after approx. 3 mins of idle.

Not yet. Installed it 2 hours ago and the fan noise made me check temp.

Currently idling at 48 degrees. Turning the fan around seems to have helped it a little bit.

The stock fan seems to work fine, just at max rpm and hot cpu.

My gpu is idling at 48ish degrees, which I think shows that the ambient temp in my case is fine.

I don't know if this still exists as my not too familiar with newer AMD stuff, but in the Athlon xp days there used to be the Cool&Quiet option in BIOS. Maybe you could check for something similar in your mobo. Sorry but I'm just trying to narrow down all the options to help you solve your problem.

Best regards.

Yea I already disabled it in the bios because it limited the clock speed to 800mhz. Might turn it on again until I buy a new cooler though.

I guess it'd be safer as I found odd your fan spinning at max speed all the time. Intel stock fans goes full only when CPU requires it, I guess the same applies to AMD's.

Best regards.
