amd phenom 9850 x4 quadcore

I have a PC with this chip 9850. want to upgrade the system what motherboard , RAM,GPU, and micro atx case you all recommend?

I noticed that amd has new low end quad core chips , AMD 760K Richland and the Atlon 5350 (kabini). is it better just to get a new build using 760k or 5350?

Can the 9850 still good for a steam machine box?

Of the two chips you mention, the Athlon 760K is the better choice.

Any reason why you want those chips? I would rather go with an Fx6300 or FX 8350 if you want AMD parts.

I just wanted to know if the 9850 still a good choice for a low end machine. I don't play BF or any fps game that is worth that much power. I'm more into WoW and Rift. And some MoBA games. I really do nt care bout having ultra settings on those games medium or high is good for me. And i'm looking to build a steam machine but i don't want to spend more than 400 dlls ..i have the 9850 and those other chips are under 100 and the motherboards can co cheap also..have a 1tb drive i found on a PC outside on the street and a 650 watts PSU from an old build. just need mother board , case, and RAM. I even have windows 7 and 8. Currently have a gtx 550ti gpu maybe i upgrade that to a gtx 660 or a R9 270X 2GB what ever i can find on special lol.

I linked to the minimum SteamOS requirements. The 9850 should work, but they recommend a graphics card.
