When I was trying to do the overclocking through AMD overdrive it says: "AMD overdrive can not detect AMD chipset supported on this computer"

What do I do to increasing the speed CPU to 3.2 GHz?, and also to fix that speed how it was at the being ( 2.8 GHZ, and in this aim case 3.2 GHz)

Cheers,
Pedro

- Cool and Quiet: Enable is what is allowing your cpu to run at less than 2.8Ghz when not running a full load. If you disable it the cpu should run at 2.8 all the time. You have an Nvidia chipset so AMD overdrive will not work. Ntune might work. http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html Your cpu doesn't have an unlocked multiplier so you will need to raise the cpu bus speed (normally 200mhz). You should be able to do it in the bios. Raise it by 5-10Mhz steps. You might have to lower the HT multiplier and NB multiplier to allow high base speeds.

Thank for your answer, I tried disable Cool and Quiet but it did not work. I also read that with variable speed the processor works perfectly as well, didn't it?.

I will do what you recommend me, I will tell you...

Thank for that clever information, I installed nvidia ntune and first I did the Stress Test for 10 min, it said "System Stress Test status: 58 passes completed".

Now I want to do the OC through nvidia ntune, so I would prefer that tell me the steps I must do because this will be my first time :) and sure I do not want to damage something.

- I have to do something in the bios, like changing OC profile to "manual" ? and changing another parameter?
- I attach some pictures of nvidia ntune so, I would need that tell me exactly what I will change. In those picture are something that I can change (blue color) and another do not let it.
- The first aim is to achieve 3.2 - 3.4 GHz, with OC profile in 7% I got 3.0 GHz.
- When I will do it, I will check the temperatures through CPUID and nvidia monitor and which parameter I have to take into account; if it is the temperatures, which ones and to what maximum limites ??

I appreciate your help and I will posting here what I will do it and all the results.

Those picture shows parameters while running a hard game.

Those show all relate to nvidia ntune and there is where I need some help.

Trying to modify the FSB it shows "Error in modifying the bus" and trying to do adjust system it shows "The setting can only be run on NVIDIA nForce2 systems or later".

??

Hmm can you try running ntune with administrator rights (right click on icon click run as administrator) I might help but hard telling. Or take some pictures of your bios and I might be able to help you with the right settings. I used ntune on nforce 2, nforce 3 with decent results.

Oh well guess you will have to overclock in the BIOS. Where it says "CPU Overclocking" try setting it to manual and see what new options it gives you under "Overclocking Options". It should now have an option to change the cpu reference clock (base clock) (default at 200Mhz) raising it will overclock you cpu. You should Also set the "Processor Frequency Multiplier" to the maximum of your CPU (14x) so it will be locked at max speed. Also take a CPU-z screen shot because it will tell me a lot of what I need to know about your system..

For higher OCing:
Sometimes having the voltage settings on Auto in Bios will cause the voltage to be much higher than needed to be stable because every cpu scales differently. But for a quick overclock auto usually does the trick. Also keep an eye on your cpu temps so run a stress test program with Hwmonitor open.

You may need Slightly increase the RAM voltage
Slightly increase the Chip Set voltage
Reduce Ram Speed
Reduce the CPU/NB Multiplier by 1
Try upping all of the voltages slightly at first and then another increment if necessary.
Then try to reduce each voltage setting to find which might not need the extra voltage.
Too much voltage will make more heat and actually lower your max overclock.
Too much voltage and heat can cause things to die..
keep cpu under 1.5V

Hi utroz, I was doing that:

1. I diseabled cool and quiet.
2. set the processor frequency multiplier in full x14 (x14 in the beginning was x 200 = 2.8 Hz which is the normal speed of the CPU).
3. inceasing cpu reference clock from 200 to a higher value.

so, I could reach more than 3.0 GHz what is one value that i never obtained :).

Then I set the cpu clock at 219 (3074 MHz)

Then I was doing the same, increasing at 1 MHz, but the pc did not start, I retourned to the previous values and then it Works again,

I was trying increasing cpu over voltaje but did not work, I set it at 1.26250, 1.275, 1.300 (more tha 1.300 it changes to yellwo color). I did not find the RAM speed and the CPU/NB has 4x to 10x, with 218 or 219 cpu clock, the pc sometime start and sometime do not start 🙁

I attached some picures and I would want to increasing more tan 3074MHz, like 3.3 GHz but do not know what to do, if someone might tell what can i do , then i was doing it and tell you the results.

I could reach 3.1 GHz , using this, but it was not easy,, multiplier 14, FBS 221, HT voltaje 1.22, chipset voltaje 1.25, memory clock value 400 MHz (440 to 850), memory voltaje 1.575.

Do I have to move in the same direction or doing another thing to achieve 3.3 GHz ?. what about memory clock value i have it at 400,, am I losing memory to set it at mínimum? I have rather into 3.1 with a better memory instead 3.3 with bad memory....

You are starting to get the hang of how it works. A cpu-z screen shot would be nice as well. Most of the time overclocking on similar motherboard cpu combos I have had to pay close attention to my overall memory speed, North Bridge Speed, Hyper Transport speed. If any of those get too high they can severely limit your cpu overclock. Sometime it is worth a shot to lower all the memory and NB and HT to their lowest setting or multiplier (depending on what option your motherboard bios has) then find your max cpu overclock and then raise the NB and HT and Memory speeds. Sometimes you may loose 100Mhz from the cpu clock to raise your NB, HT, and Memory speed to a decent non bottlenecking speed. Keep trying different settings. At your current settings I would keep pushing the CPU speed as high as I could get it. The 400Mhz memory speed is only right when you run the base speed at 200 as your raise the base speed the memory speed increases as it is determined by a multiplier just like the CPU, HT, and NB speeds. That is why CPU-z sceen shots would be nice. They will show what speed the NB, Memory, HT, and CPU are running at. Just make sure to take screen shots of all the tabs or validate them and post the link.

Also what are you using as a stability testing program? Some use Linx, OCCT, Prime 95, AIDIA 64's stability test, ECT..

here some pictures

running some hard game, I see hih temp.,, look at this

high_temp.png

it looks like my memory runs at 885 MHz not at 1600 MHz ?? am I losing memory capability? I saw that in chipset - northbridge - memory configuration - enable clock to all DIMMs is disable, is it right?

Yes currently you are running the ram at the "400MHZ" setting which really means Fsb 1:2 Ram ratio so if the system base clock is 200Mhz the memory speed is 400Mhz but because it is DDR2 memory it is effectively 800Mhz. Feel free to raise the setting in the BIOS to the "600Mhz" FSB 1:3 Ram or "800Mhz" FSB 1:4 Ram Ratio's and see how it runs. You should be able to raise the HyperTransport speed to closer to 2000Mhz by raising the HT multiplier. Overclocking is systematically trying settings and finding what gives you the overall best performance. So always only change one setting at a time.

Yes your memory is running at about half of its rated speed causing you to loose around half of your ram bandwidth. Your Cpu temps do seem high underload. Are you using a stock cpu cooler? I did some looking around and 3.2Ghz seems to be around where a lot of the 925's stop overclocking. I would shoot for a clean 3.1Ghz and get the HT up to 2000Mhz and have the memory running at 1333-1700Mhz range. The NB speed is fine where is it.

I set my memory at full 800 MHz.

I was Reading that the max. temp. of CPU is for about 90C (operating like 71C), for the GPU 100C (operating 80-90C), is it true?..

I use only fans (3 fans).

"the HT up to 2000Mhz" I do not know how to obtain that, NB frequency did not work at any multiplier.

The cpu-z shows DRAM at 868 MHz. I tryed with this settins and for now it Works,, prime95 also shows taht... HT is ok ?, all temperaturas are ok ? am I in a safe zone after running prime95, no error , no warnings..

I set the mem clock at 667 deu to DRAM jumo to more tan 1600 MHz now it is at 738 MHz HT at 1107 and chipset voltaje at 1.23 becouse of my pc some time did not start,, now it is in testing...

look at my last set utroz,,,

fsb=221 x 14 = 3100
HT vol. = 1.23
Mem Volt= 1.50
cpu vol= 1.31250
chip vol= 1.23
VDDNB= 1.18125

CPU-Z -> DRAM AT 738, HT LINK = 1107, BUS SPEED = 221, CORE VOL. = 1.308

my bus is at 738 x 2 = 1476 and my memories are at 1600 MHz, how do you see those voltajes ?,,

Not sure where to get the HT speed higher, it could be in a sub menu but it is odd that the setting is so hard to find. I did notice that your temps are getting quite high. What are you using for a heatsink and thermal grease? The cpu is getting to the point where the temps are going to cause throttling.

After try and try,,, so on,,, now I know exactly how it Works, I downloaded ntune and with that now I know the value of memory bus speed, look at this...

OC_______Mem Clock_____CPU SPEED___DRAM____Mem Bus Speed

All in Auto________________2813_______535.7______1407
profile 7%________________2998_______571.0______1500
FBS 217_______667_______ 3038_______723________1519
FBS 218_______667_______ 3052_______726________1526
FBS219_______667________ 3075______732 ________1537
FBS 220_______667________3075______732_________1537
FBS 217_______800________3039______868_________1519
FBS 218_______800________3052______872_________1526
FBS 219_______800----------- do not start at all ---

Here the restrictive parameter for my computer is the memory capability, I have two slots 4 GB at 1600 MHz so, when the OC Memory reaches 1530 approx. it looks as a limit so, when I was trying with FBS of 220 the values were the same than 219,, it shows like a limit,,. it was the reason I did not get stability my system. If I would have 1800 or 2000 or mem bus speed , then I can reach a higher OC.

I am going to stay at FBS 219, 667 of Mem clock with 1537 memory bus speed that is 9.5% OC. more that 7% OC profile

How do you interpret those values and my conclusion....
