AMD Phenom II X4 945+ on AM2 socket possible?

I've tried it once but the pc wouldn't boot and the lights on the tower wouldn't light up.

Is it possible at all?

that cpu either uses the AM2+ or the AM3 socket.
you should've looked that up before you tried to boot from it as you could have now killed the cpu and maybe even the motherboard.
