Hello, I have an issue with my AMD Phenom II x4 955. I have upgraded from Athlon X2 64 6000+. So, my new Phenom does not work with 4x2GB DDR2 800MHz. It wont display anything no BOOT no image. PC running but is unable to BOOT. Only when I put 2x2GB to dualchannel or only 2GB RAM it working. I tried most of BIOS settings but I am desperate with this. I googled it, but with almost no results. Please help me with this.

OS: Win 7 64-bit
MB: MA770-US3 rev. 2.1
Newest BIOS
These RAMS: goo.gl/nGRoPv

PS: Sorry for my English, I am from Slovakia.

Well, if you bought them separately that might be the problem.
Different CPU, different memory controller.
Memory sticks not bought together have a chance of not working together, this might be happening to you.
I'm not 100% sure because I don't know if the CPU(memory controller) can make a difference.

looking at your board cpu compatibility list; http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-MA770-US3(rev._2.1).html

then scrolling down the long list of CPU's finding the Phenom II X4 list I see very specifically the 955 being listed with model numbers

955 - HDX955FBK4DGI / HDZ955FBK4DGI / HDZ955FBGIBOX
955, 3.2 GHz, HT 4000 MHz, L2 4x512 KB, L3 6 MB, TDP 125 Watt, Deneb, 0.045 micron, Rev C2 FG 2.1
955 - HDX955FBK4DGM955 - HDZ955FBK4DGM / HDZ955FBGMBOX
955, 3.2 GHz, HT 4000 MHz, L2 4x512 KB, L3 6 MB, TDP 125 Watt, Deneb, 0.045 micron, Rev C3 FG 2.1
955 - HDX955WFK4DGM
955, 3.2 GHz, HT 4000 MHz, L2 4x512 KB, L3 6 MB, TDP 95 Watt, Deneb, 0.045 micron, Rev C3 FG 2.1

you will notice it says Bios version FG is needed. perhaps that is one of the things to check, and update ?

Bios can be downloaded from http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3303#bios

Lastly I will suggest to check RAM model numbers against the official list\ of supported ram for you motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3303#memory%20support%20list

I bought them together from that link 4x2GB.

I had BIOS version FJ and now after update i have FKB (newest). I though that the CPU is available from FG (and newer). I will try it. Thanks

I figured, that it working with sticks only in position DDR2_1 and DDR2_3 (you can see in the photo). I am not sure if it is dual channel or not,. Is there something what can i do with these others positions, something like ,,turn it on", make some settings, which ,,activate" these positions DDR2_2 and DDR2_4?

Mate your RAM channel positions are either DDR2_1 and DDR2_2 OR DDR2_3 and DDR2_4 Not[strike] DDR2_1 and DDr2_3[/strike]

on your board ram should be in 2 Blue slots and 2 white slots
NOT 1 in blue and 12 in white...

I have 2 yellow(in your photo blue) and 2 red positions (in your photo white), DDR2_1 and DDR2_2 are yellow. I working only in first position of yellow and first position of red. Like in the photo.

Yes, but it is not working. that is my problem.

Yes, before change of CPU worked all of them.

Hey, MrDiamond

1.
Maybe its a good idea to start off with only 1 RAM module on the board if it works swap it to the second test if both of them work solo.
Then try both like Paladin says in 2xred - 2yellow .. if not use youre old ram then u have to get different ram modules i guess.. 🙁

2.
Maybe its RAm whit more Mhz? Youre Motherboard dont like Ram over 800mhz?
"Due to AMD AM3/ AM2+ CPU limitation, memory module of DDR2 1066 or above speed is only supported by 1 dimm per channel."

I did it few minutes ago and with old CPU (Athlon X2 64 6000+) it is worked. Now I will go to change it back to Phenom and try it.

Edit: On the first try with Athlon it is worked with 6GB RAM, now is it the same like in the case with phenom.

Maybe this can be problem, these rams. But in the specs of CPU is:

Memory controller
The number of controllers: 1
Memory channels: 2
Channel width (bits): 72
Supported memory: DDR2-1066, DDR3-1333
DIMMs per channel: up to 2
Maximum memory bandwidth (GB/s): 21.3
So I think it can work with lower frequency of DDR2.
