Hello, what is the default voltage for this cpu?

This picture shows some info on my CPU. When I select High Performance Power Plan cpu keeps running at 3.2 Ghz and my voltage acording to these programs keeps jumping between 1.088 or something to 1.472. Only stuff I did to my cpu was unpark cores (using this http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility ) and I also tried overclocking cpu using cpu overdrive that comes with my catalyst driver for video card... A friend of mine also has AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2 GHz and he says his stock voltage was 1,364 or something and if my keeps jumping all the way to 1.472 I think it's crazy and I'm afraid my CPU might cook or something (I have no intention of doing that). Using cpu overdrive I had oced to 3.5 Ghz but later I disabled it and left stock 3.2 Ghz, I never changed any voltages (unless that program did change them?) Help pls?

A friend of mine has it oced to 3.4 Ghz and he set his voltage to something like 1.368 or something and when I oced using cpu overdrive (that comes with my catalyst driver) to 3.5 according to those programs my voltage vent over 1.5...

This is a pic of my bios, as far as I understand pc itself sets voltage since it's on auto? But why would he set 1.5, isnt that like crazy?

At stock and auto settings in the bios the voltage will do that, 1.4 is about what auto does and 1.5v is about a safe max, but high for stock speeds, my overclocked x6 runs at about 1.35v, for stock u can prob get it down to maybe 1.2v or 1.3v, just manually set it in the bios, undervolting does not hurt the cpu, but overvolting can so dont raise it past 1.5v.

Auto voltage settings along with other power saving features will move the voltage and clock speed to the load that the cpu is under so lets say idle the cpu will drop to usually 800mhz and about .8v or so thats cool n quiet i believe and prob auto voltage settings. Its nice to not heavy use or getting lower temps some times but with a fixed voltage is may cause unwanted heat at idle.

Thanks for quick reply lazyboy947, I usually run a "Balanced" power plan so yes it drops to ~800 mhz and maybe 1,088 V I think, i use this plan when I'm watching anime or movie, reading some stuff on net etc, but when I play games I usually use "High Performance" power plan and I play quite a lot. What is normal temp for this cpu? I checked while oced to 3.5 ghz ( I played a game called APB Reloaded, it is currently in engine upgrade stage so they removed optimizations so game is teribly unoptimized atm and cpu heavy, so after about 5 minutes of gaming (ran 3.5 ghz all the time) my cpu temp jumped as high as 61 C). Also how much do you think 3.2 Ghz needs Volts? I'm afraid to mess with it cause I'm not really sure what I'm doing, also how much would 3.5 Ghz need? Also Bios looks scary, maybe I should use this AMD Overdrive program (I can set clock speed and voltage there) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmgTv5nwBu8 here is a vid of this program in action, what do you think?

stock u should be able to get maybe 1.2v and 1.3v or even 1.2v with the oc, it really matters as every cpu is different in the amount of voltage it takes to run at a certain clock speed. As i said undervolting will not harm anything, its overvolting that can, so stay below 1.5v, and if it goes up in +.05 or something then it should show the starting point to where u can subtract or add off that amount, or it may just show 1.3 or watever.

Thanks again for your answer. I would like you ask whitch settings should I change in bios (could you look at that pic?)? Should I change "CPU Voltage controll" from auto to a certain value and leave everything else as auto or should I change "Normal CPU Vcore" and CPU NB VID Controll" aswell? (cant change those settings unless I change "System voltage controll" first)

Also if you can please tell me what settings to change to overclock cpu (only CPU Clock Ratio or something more)?

to change the voltage u can add or minus the values, if u notice normal is half way down the list in between all the plus and minus settings, so to undervolt u will want to minus voltage, but first u must find the clock u want or max which is easier done with higher voltage and lower til u find the sweet spot for the stable oc or lower the clock to possibly hit lower voltages.

Ur starting point is 1.4v, so -.05 will bring it down to 1.35v and -.1 to 1.3v and so on, so really dont touch the add voltage as u prob wont need to raise it for a 3.5 oc and def not for stock.
