[SOLVED] AMD Phenom II X4 955 rapidly changing from 800 mhz to 3200 mhz.

so in cpu-z i am rapidly going multiplyer x4 to x16. Every couple of seconds it will change very rapidly causing nothing to work. just added thermal paste to the cpu. any help?

Check your OS, something is kicking it in turbo mode at those high times.

Im Quite new to this cpu thing, but Im Running windows 7 which i think your talking about and what would be kicking my cpu into turbo mode?

Could be some startup program or antivirus. Check in Task Manager how much of CPU is used.

That's just AMD Cool'n'Quiet. It's a power saving technology that will make your CPU speed up or slow down as necessary. If the CPU usage isn't out of the ordinary, it's nothing to worry about.
You can disable it in the BIOS if it bothers you though.
