AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE vs AMD FX-4170 Zambezi

Hello, I am trying to decide which CPU to get (Phemon II X4 965 or FX-4170 Zambzei) for a computer that will be used for a moderate amount of gaming. I am somewhat new to this so I am not entirely sure which is better at doing what. They are relatively close in price so that isn't an issue. Thanks!

I'd go for the Phenom II X4 965, it will cost cheaper and offer similar performance. You can use that money for the video card or a great CPU cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO for overclocking it.

Considering that Bulldozer was so bad that it got beaten out by the older Phenom II there is no point getting the Bulldozer.

You have the 965 which will be slightly better than the 955.

Thanks for the responses. It seems like the Phenom II is a bit better for the money. If I wanted to overclock the CPU I take it none of them are significantly better than the other?

No the Phenom II doesn't blow the Bulldozer out of the water but it is better despite being the older CPU. Both can be overclocked.
