Hello all, I want to compare these 2 CPUs

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
AMD Ryzen 5 1600

Both CPUs have a base of 3.2ghz and a turbo frequency of 3.6ghz
Both have 6 cores

The Phenom one came out 8 years ago with AM3 and the Ryzen one is more recent with AM4.

I just want to know, what makes the Ryzen much faster than the Phenom because they both have the same amount of cores as well as the base and turbo frequency in terms on 3.2-3.6Ghz.

OMG, the Ryzen is so much faster. It's like saying which is faster, a Ferrari from the 70s or a 2018 Toyota Camry. Or a Pentium 4 at 3.2 GHz or an i7 at 3.2GHz.

The architecture is totally different. The new CPUs can do more at the same clock speed.

You also have a process node shrink from 45nm to 14nm. Lower power requirements, and usually this also increases the transistor count.

DDR4 support vs DDR3 support.

In terms of motherboard I/O, PCIe 3.0, support for NVMe, this list is actually quite extensive. A very long gap in terms of technology.
