A little bit pissed right now. After a few months of saving money I decided to buy myself a really nice, high end machine because I needed one for school (computer major). I ended up getting AMD Phenom II X6 2800 processor, MSI 880GM-E43 mobo with 4gb DDR3 1600 RAM a 1tb harddrive and a nice, new case/PSU. I've had it for about three weeks and WAS loving it.
A few people in my classes were speaking glorious multitudes about overclocking their chips. Ive never done it because I don't want to break my ***. I don't play many PC games so any power I have is dedicated to any virtualization I'm doing and due to having purchased this thing so recently I haven't even had the chance to max the damn thing out yet. Well I was cleaning my desk up and stumbled upon the disc that came with the motherboard and noticed there was a very nifty control center I could install, so I did. I was perusing it and noticed the Overclocking section had an OC Genie. I did a little light reading about it and it sounded totally harmless "Let the system overclock itself!"
So I clicked it, like an asshole. It asked me to reboot and I did, like an asshole. I had just installed VMWare and that needed a reboot so I figured what the hell, reboot. I'm now sitting here, 45 f***ing mintues later staring at a blank screen, working on an old laptop.
tl;dr - I jacked my brand new desktop up with the OC Genie
Anyone have any insight to why my computer boots up, but doesn't POST, boot, or show anything at all? Nothing but fans making noise right now.
