Help Overclocking AMD Phenon II x4 965 Black Edition. Ram 4gbx2 corsair vengeance pro 2400, Asus M5 A97 r2.0. PS 650w Ultra. Can't make my ram work at 2400, all I can get is 2000

Solution
MB supports it but CPU has the main controller and is not best idea to overburden it. Now, if you put an FX processor you could go higher. Their MC is up to 1866MHz.
As it is, on Phenom II you get mostly heat is in danger of burning up. I would set it at 1600 MHz and lover latency for better performance. Look at XMP profile and see which are lowest latencies for 1600 MHz.

You can see those setting in CPU-Z program and other ones like Speccy...

You can see those setting in CPU-Z program and other ones like Speccy. You just have to go inBIOS, set memory settings to manual and either use XMP profile or or punch in those settings.

Solution
I had my cpu overclocked from 3.4 to 3.7 and my old ram were corsair vengeance pro 2133,they worked at 2133 perfectly. also I have a good case and a nice cooling system so my temperature never went higher than 55* when playing hard or doing stuff. i just got this new ram because my friend was going to sell them in cuba and he changed them for mines because he is going to get the same money for it no matter the speed, so i got the 2400. i just can't make this kit work like the old one. thanks for the help. buy the way i bought an AMD fx-8350 today.
