AMD Preps Brazos Successor For Late '11 Launch

This is AMD's busy year, they've been working hard to deliver the goods this year, hope they don't let us down.

AMD CPU's in a tablet PC? Sounds like my kind of product.

It will debute later in 2011. AMD is just introducing the APU chips to the freemarket and consumers. I guess AMD wants to give Intel the bird at CES...if they have the silicon to do it.

what about the 6 core amd chips?
 
Bulldozer is am architecture that is really meant for gaming and it even has feature sets that even intel doesn't have on sandy bridge .

how long has it been since amd has really launched something new instead of leaks and rumors
intel brings i3, i5, i7 and amd announces bulldozer somewhere at the end of 2010
amd reveals hexa core phenoms... old architecture with couple extra cores...
second generation i3, i5, i7 comes out and we still waiting or expecting for a amd equivalent...

personally i prefer having amd/ati in my rig...
but i think amd has already had us waiting for too long...
suddenly im not so enthusiastic about bulldozer anymore...
not even expecting anything great from them anymore...

Intel brought the i-series almost 2-3 years ago.
It takes time for Intel or AMD to come up with/engineer/release a product that will compete with their competitor.
 
Late '11 !?! By then SandyBridge would have taken over the world.
The gap between AMD and Intel just gets larger and larger.
I feel bad that AMD can't keep up with Intel, but then again,
I'm happy because SandyBridge will be kicking some ass and
will be the best bang for your buck. I'm pretty sure
Microcenter will have it for around $240.
 
FINALLY! A TabletPC with a decent graphics chipset. No more of these gawd awful Intel Integrated graphics. I have been holding off on upgrading my 2004 Toshiba M200 because no TabletPC that has come out offered a better graphics chip then the nVidia 6200 in this. FINALLY something after 6 years to give decent performance.

That wide gap between AMD and Intel is actually a bad thing, the further they are apart the more Intel would want to milk us with their prices, if AMD gave some good competition then the consumer wins. Always

Seems you're lost dude.

This late '11 is about the brazos replace done in 28nm. A ultra low power cpu. The 40nm zacate/ontario destroys atom in any way possible, cpu performance, battery life, integrated (faster than the "sb wannabe high end igp") just limited beacuse of the low frequency cpu.

Zambesi wich 8 cores can be 50% faster then X6 Thuban (IPC improvement and other things) should come in April.

Yes, so more people should buy AMD products so they can make some money to put in R&D. :)
 
AMD has matched and gone ahead of Intel in the past, they had less resources back then too, so why shouldn't they manage again? The jump from K6-3 to Athlons skipped past 2-3 Intel generations. I personally only prefer AMD due to the good pricing in the budget section, although I am excited about 2011 and will probably take my first step into the enthusiast market for once in my life, so Bulldozer looks promising =)

For the average consumer, they'll actually be looking at the commercials and shops computers where the worker will 'suggest' their opinion on a perfect computer. Intel still dominates among average users and prebuilt buyers because they advertise and have commercials.

That's why there are still people that think Intel is the only Company producing parts for Computers, they don't know about ASUS/Gigabyte/MSi/Biostar. When it comes down to it I started off with a computer that had an AMD processor, Nvidia 4400ti graphics, and an HP logo. If I hadn't gone for that AMD prebuilt, I probably wouldn't have known AMD existed until I began doing research on building computers myself.
