AMD processor overheating

I have been using HP G6 2005 model that has AMD processor. Just after using for 4-5 months, it's overheating like hell. I found the CPU temp is usually crossing 145 degree C in usual load after I installed temp monitor app (Speccy). Please help!
FYI, this is happening though I put my laptop on table while working. And the temp goes up in 10-15 mins of normal usage. I had contacted for service, who had applied the thermal cooling paste, which seems to be of no use.

Open the case and turn the PC on. Is the CPU fan spinning? Is it fast? If it is dusty try to take a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of it. I hope this helps!

1. Try another temp monitor app, as if that temp were true your CPU would probably be dead.
2. Reapply new thermal paste to the CPU's heatsink, and also make sure the heatsink is on there securly.
3. Buy a new Heatsink that works.

Agreed. 145c would have killed the CPU by now. Check the idle temps in BIOS and see if there is a manufacturer temp monitor. Also try HW Monitor and Core Temp.

Since this looks like a laptop (HP G6 2005 ) it will be challenging to reapply thermal paste, but it is possible. Just more of a pain to clean off the old and apply the new.
