amd r7 1700 or intel i7 7700k

I am an avid gamer but i also often create and edit music that i record. I am very undecided between the r 7 1700 and the i7 7700k. I do not know which one is better and is the most future proof.

right now it's looking like i7 7700k
-Games will need the single core performance
-AMD has some RAM issues right now it seems, hopefully will be patched later by motherboard makers
-Likely better OC performance on the i7

I pre-ordered a Ryzen chip to use the 16 cores for VMs but I don't know how core intensive music editing can be. I am an AMD fan and can say they are both great, you won't be unhappy with either, but if you want a better gaming chip now and the next year or two go with Intel 7700K.

As Justiceinacan stated, the Intel 7700K is better now for gaming and this will most likely remain true for a year or two until game developers start creating with more cores in mind (This is why the i5 has been a gaming sweet spot for years).
- The Ryzen 1700 should get better through BIOS versions, windows 10 updates, and faster memory support over time
- At equal clock speed the IPC of each chip is very close but the 7700K can OC to 5.0Ghz where Ryzen seems to be 4.1Ghz without exotic cooling, the Intel 7700K is better for gaming right now by about 5-15% overall.

Yeah, i bought the i7 7700K. It was on sale for $50 and comes with a discounted z270 motherboard.

ok, now i overclocked manually to 4.8 ghz and getting a temp of about 82 degrees. Is that too far for a hyper 212?

80s are pushing it, yeah. Try to never get above 85 C max load
