As I just wanted to buy a R9 270X i found out many of these cards are getting artifacts so i wanted to ask if it's worth trying to still get a proper 270X or just buy the 660 straight away?

Solution
These artifacting rumors are getting a bit much now...

If your card has "artifacting" issue caused by Hardware related faults, then the card can be returned FOR FREE to be replaced.

THis happens to both Nvidia and AMD cards from time to time when they have a manufacturing fault, its not present in ALL of a specific model.

if you can, get an R9 270x, its A LOT better than the GTX660.

Agreed. AMD cards seems to get artifacting problems more regularly than Nvidia cards though. My friend has to return a 290 because of this issue.

The percentage probability is A LITTLE bit higher than Nvidia, but its so small to be irrelevant. Not to mention that even if you had a problem, simply returning the card will get you a new and working one.

Also most of the time its not the GPU chipmaker that has an issue, its the PCB and card manufacturer.
