AMD R9 280x Crossfire vs R9 290 ?

Hi everyone , I am planning to get new AMD R9 290 ( not the R9 290x ) but I herd from a Friend that R9 280x in Crossfire are Better than R9 290 . Is it Ture in terms of Raw Power ?

Will I see major differences in Gaming ?

What resolutions you want to play at? If it is 1080p@60Hz then 290 will be more then enough.. also for cross-fire R280X You would need descent PSU.. MB that support it, not much info You give.

in most games yes it would wipe the floor with a single 290x, but cost and power consumption really do make the 290/290x the better buy.
personally if i can afford two 280's i would jump ship to nvidia and get a 780 and save about 150quid.
or if i was gonna be all fanboi and must have AMD then i would get a 290(not x) and hope mantle brings some serious performance gains on the few games that will support it this year.

Many of the R9 290s can be flashed with a 290X BIOS, mainly the XFX and PowerColor 290s

unless you can get an early release version you may not be able to now as they updated the gpu bios soon after the bios that unlocked the chips went live.
if you wanna risk it then thats a choice but personally i wouldnt.
