AMD Radeon 5450 Problems

Hi!
I am waiting for my new PC and I installed a temporary GPU - the 5450.
The problem with it is that I can't even run games like Magicka and Counter-Strike, I generally get less than 10 FPS. I know this is one of the cheapest GPUs on the market, but I have a reason to believe that I can get a lot better performance - I've seen people play ACII and even Crysis. And according to Can You RUN It I should be able to atleast play the games mentioned above on max settings.

I played magicka on medium 1600x900 at 25 fps with my 5450. That card cant run much at all. Can you run it isnt the best way to check. It says you only need so much memory, but having that memory at extremely low clocks wont run it.

You're correct you can run those games. Problem is the card is several generations old and the lowest card in the line. You're going to have to drop details and resolutions to get playable performance even out of older games.

Well, I'm playing on the lowest settings possible and the maximum FPS is 10 :?
Drivers are up to date. I have no clue what the problem might be.

1680x1050, the processor is fine - was able to run BF3 with my previous GPU

It likely just an extremely weak card. Some 5450s did better than others.

1680 x 1050 is really stretching it, try dropping to 1024 x 768 just to see how it works out. 10 may be a little low but you're not going to get it much higher, doubling the speed still only gets you to 20 FPS. You may just have to wait for your new PC.

Take a look at this, they had to turn everything down to get 15 FPS min:
