I have a laptop. i know i should have went with a desktop. but i wanted a level of portability. I know that it has potential to be powerful. I can play games like L4D2 and Portal 2 on my 1080p TV on all max settings at 60 fps .Some games wont play well at all. most games that are fairly well optimized will not play well. But i have absolutely no improvement with dual graphics on any game. games like GTA 4 will one second play at 40 fps then the next time i play it will be struggling to get 10. i can never tell a difference with dual graphics on. Did i waste $100 for dual graphics? or is my system just crap? also when i am playing games i will press the windows key on my keyboard sometimes my screen will turn blue and my whole system will restart. sorry if i am posting this in the wrong area,i am new to this site. but please help.

GTA4 is just terrible on laptops in general because it is so cpu depenent. don't worry about it if the only games you see this problem are console ports (games that are big on consoles, but not so much on pc...gta 4 and the assassin's creed games are good examples) The crashing when exiting a game and going to desktop is likely due to bad drivers. make sure to have the latest drivers from amd. Typically the dual graphics will only work well in some games and no so much in others. it's really hit and miss.

hey guys, thanks for fast reply's. i checked with both but is it better to check for drivers through device manager or go through amd CCC? I watch videos on Youtube of people with the same set up i have playing games with 60 fps when i can only get 20-30. also, i have heard that vSync increases functionality of dual graphics. Is this true or what is its purpose?

obviously ynot all is sett as high performance.

I already wrote to not just select high perforamnce in bios and save.Set each setting urself as high perf.

also check in windows in power saving options.

higher ghz mean better performance.

I went back and set every setting as high perf. myself. all drivers are up to date. everything is running good. my computer did come with alot of bloatware from hp. i think removing that and defragmenting the drive will help improve all around system speed. Thanks for all the help.

if you want best perf create a RAMdisk and put game in it.
Also remobe all unneeded programs from autostart list.Use razer game booster

wtf 8gb not enough?

close all unneded processes in task manager or just use Razer game booster much easier better.More Ram free.

Then use all remaining ram for ramdisk and fill it with as much of game data you will use as you can.
BEWARE if you dont have pagefile then you need to reserve some more ram than system actually uses now just in case.

Ramdisk games need to be reloaded to the ram each time you shut down your system, though you can create something that does this for you easily, but you will experience NO fps increase with a ramdisk over a normal install. you just won't experience load screens compared to a hard drive.

RAMDisk improves your minimal fps and loading times. It is mosly better to have higher minimal fps than higher max fps
