Hi,

I am aware their are many threads already on this subject but I am still unable to find a thread that has the same problem as myself. And if there is a thread that resembles my problem, the solution did not work.

My spec's are; AMD Radeon HD 7850
Intel i5 2nd gen
AOC ultrawide monitor
900W PSU

I'm almost 100% sure this is not a hardware problem having checked by chopping and changing hardware with a friends PC.

Anyway, every time I start my PC after the initial Del/F2 BIOS screen, windows 10 starts to load. But when the Log In screen is supposed to show up all I get is a black screen with no mouse cursor.

Occasionally it will give the option to log in using windows safe mode (which I don't know how to manually activate, it just seems random). When safe mode is activated everything is fine, i can log in and see a low resolution display without the PC connecting to internet.

I see device manager and delete the current display driver but it seems to reinstall on restart

I downloaded the latest drivers on my laptop and put them on a flash drive but when I try to install them on the PC an error occurs; "Failed to load detection driver"

Okay, things I've tried;

-> Uninstalling everything AMD related (using Microsoft Display Adapter from now on)
-> Downloading the latest driver, and installing it via device manager.
-> Downloading the Windows 7/8.1 drivers and installing them via AMD catalyst and Device Manager.
-> Factory reset of Windows 10 and then installing drivers.
-> Online chat with Microsoft which resulted in them repeating everything I've done to no avail and saying I need to contact AMD.
-> Writing an E-ticket with AMD.
-> Taking it to PCworld/Currys and tried getting it repaired (to make sure it weren't hardware related). They had no idea.

What I don't understand is, I had both windows 10 and a working graphics card since the release of windows 10 and had no problems. Till now.

So if anybody has any idea of how to get my graphics card to work it would be much appreciated. I'm out of ideas.

Well buddy, this might help you:

1.Remove your GPU from the PC.
2. Uninstall your AMD driver and every thing which came along with it.
3.Restart your PC
3.Go to Control Panel=>Appearance and Personalization, under 'Display' click on'Adjust screen resolution', then beside 'Resolution' see whether the resolution of your 'Current Display' Matches the 'Actual resolution of your Monitor.
4.Skip this step if the resolution of your 'Current Display' Matches with your 'Actual resolution of the Monitor' Now, click on the Box beside 'Resolution' and set the resolution to the exact 'resolution of your Monitor or to it's highest available Value' then click on apply.
5.Visit support.amd.com/en-us/download

Windows 10 have plenty of bugs, and i have been going through one of them also, where it would shut my computer down completely while gaming, and or watching videos. Try going back to windows 8 or 8.1 and see if the problem exist.

you should be able to always upgrade back if it still does it. your files wouldnt be affected.

Unfortunately I moved house recently and cant find my product key for windows 8. So reinstalling windows 8 would be difficult to say the least.

6. Scroll down to 'Features', under 'Features' click on '*DOWLOAD' beside 'Latest Beta Driver'. Wait for the download to finish.
7.After the download of driver is completed. Shutdown your PC and Plug your Graphics Card into the first PCIe slot of the motherboard.
8.Boot-up your PC and install the drive and all the the things which comes along with the driver.
9.After the driver is successfully installed on the PC, restart your PC.
10.After restarting your PC right click on the 'desktop window' and then click on 'AMD Catalyst Control Center'=>'Desktop Properties', under 'Desktop Properties' check whether the resolution of your 'current display' matches the ' actual display of your monitor.

Note: Make sure your 'Graphics Card' is well seated on the first PCIe slot (don't put too much of pressure on the PCIe slot while plugging 'Graphics Card' in it, be gentle, applying little force on the 'Graphics Card' after plunging it is a good way to make sure if it's well seated or not.

Check whether the 'power cable' of your 'Graphics Card' is well Plugged.

Check whether the 'display cable' of your monitor is well plugged into the 'Graphics Card' as well as the 'Monitor'

If the problem exists even after following the above instructions and notes please feel free to respond back with your problem.
