[citation][nom]chick0n[/nom]I've been an ATi/Radeon fan for a while.I was forced to get GeForce 470 GTX cuz at that time everything was out of stock and my old video card broke (and EVGA won't honor the warranty, asxwipes)Now when this comes out, the 470 GTX will be on Ebay.[/citation]

Give ya $20!! :) LOL J/K. Although a second 470 would be awesome for my rig. ;)

Man, I can't believe that they're not just putting some new cards out - it's a whole lineup from top to bottom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's ridiculous!!!

I just want these cards to get here already so I can finally decide which way to go in upgrading.

[citation][nom]BobDozer[/nom]Unfortunately this means that using 3-screen Nvidia will have micro-stutter issues in some games like this -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGD [...] re=channelA 5870 is good enough for 5760x1080 resolution, one can only imagine a 6870 will be more than enough for most games at high settings.[/citation]

Maybe if you only play WoW. I have a 5870+i7 and score around 50+ FPS at 1920*1200 in BC2 which is well optimized for multicore and dx11. The resolution you mention would kill performance guaranteed.

It'll be good to see how these things work. If they are good performers and have excellent idle power consumption, I think they'll have another win on their hands.

Can't wait to see these in action.

[citation][nom]vulcan900[/nom]Correction: "Radeon 6870 looks as big as 5970"[/citation]
Yeah I know... I thought they'll be using the 28nm manufacturing process, which should enable them to lower the power usage significantly... It doesnt look that way...

Or they've actually done that and then they've increased the power to achieve a higher clock rate....Hmmm

Wow 6 series coming out and my 4870 can max most things out(although I admit it's the weakest link in my current computer).

Can't wait to pick up a high end 5 series for $100-$200

[citation][nom]barmaley[/nom]Perhaps we should wait until benchmarks and reviews are posted?[/citation]
Good point, but does anyone honestly believe that AMD are going to screw this one up?
Considering the performance differance between Fermi and current HD5000 models the amount of improvement required to go to the head of the class again will be relatively small and AMD haven't been resting on their laurels.

[citation][nom]dj1001[/nom]Im calling fake they said they were going to change the name to AMD radeon which is mentioned nowhere in the pics[/citation]
Depite the middle picture having AMD on the PCB and the last picture having AMD engraved on the chip?

Well I don't see as much usefullness for the 6xxx series. Atleast the latest generation brought about DX11 and Eyefinity. So I would hope for a price drop on the 5xxx cards and go to a 5870.

May be more aimed at those who bought HD4000 or older who said they wouldn't buy HD5000 for exactly the same reason?

I for one was planning on purchasing a 5870 but made the decision to hold off until this Winter for the 6xxx series. I am glad I made the decision.
My 4xxx series cards will suffice until then.

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]A nail in the coffin for nVidia[/citation]
If it is true, then it is bad time for us. Because no competition means stagnation and high prices.

He fails to take into account the release of Crysis 2 and the possible impact that may have on people not buying ATi/AMD cards. [:mousemonkey]

[citation][nom]p4nz3rm4d[/nom]fake...or really cool...but y did they need to create a new series soo soon?[/citation]
I take your point but....
People who bought the 5870 should feel lucky it’s been leading edge technology for what will be at least a year by time the Radeon HD 6000 series reaches the shops.
I was one of those unlucky few who bought a 3870 x2 only to find 3 months later a single 4870 generally beat it in performance ... now I think that was too soon especially as 3870 x2 cost me £380($600)squid!

[citation][nom]notty22[/nom]This is a panic move to counter the gtx 460. You want a super fast dx11 card that can overclock like no tomorrow ? Its already available = The gtx 460.ATI, oops I mean AMD fanboys seem desperate for Nvidia to crumble. Pathetic[/citation]

Paper launch of fermi was a panic.

Cool. I'll probably be in need of a new card in a few months, so hopefully these 6000s will knock down the price of the 5000s and maybe some of the geforces as well.

I saw the first generation of dx 11 cards by AMD, the 5xxx series was very compelling if you wanted a very nice graphical boost when upgrading. although the marketing strategy for AMD is quite appealing, if you had the 3XXX series cards from AMD skipping over the 4XXX series and buying the 5xxx series cards would be the smart upgrade path, so as soon as the 6xxx series cards come out, anyone with a 4xxx series card should upgrade to the 6xxx series and if you have a 5xxx series card wait for the 7xxx series of gpus to upgrade to get the most for your money.

ATI needs to first improve the hell out of their Ubuntu drivers.Even their windows drivers suck. I,m so tired of my mouse pointer becoming a dot in games....
