I am trying to get dual screens using an AMD Radeon HD 6670.

I brought a second monitor mainly to use with my Playstation 3 but I thought I'd hook it up to the PC as well.

Monitor 1 is VGA.

Monitor 2 has VGA, HDMI and DVI-D ports.

I have been using Monitor 1 with a regular VGA cable.

I tried hooking up Monitor 2 using a VGA cable and a DVI -> VGA adapter that came with another graphics card I had but there is no signal and won't detect on Windows 8 or the Catalyst Centre. When I put the VGA cable in the VGA port like I have done with my old Monitor 1 it works fine, also tried both on their own and the DVI port doesn't work with either of them using the adapter.

I've looked at many topics about this, but I'm still confused about what I actually need to get in order to have both working because it seems that it is possible.

I read on the below topic from this forum that I can't use the ports at the same time though with this graphics card???

Any help would be appreciated in simple terms.

Thanks.

Thank you, using HMDI for Monitor 2 sorted the problem. Only thing is that I was trying to save the HDMI port for my PS3, is there an adapter available where I can use 2 HMDI inputs into one port?

Thanks again :)

There are a number of HDMI switches available.
For example:

and

Not sure if you still need this, as the thread is fairly old, but you can buy something called a "HDMI Splitter" which allows you to have multiple HDMI inputs with one output. You can then switch between each as you please
