Come on hard release! I am so glad I waited rather than upgrade all my machines to the 5xxx series. I was just one click away from upgrading every machine in my house and luckily I resisted the urge.

Alright, what did I miss? The 6770 from the chart above, look to me, like it is barely on parr with the 5870. Sure it has some pluses, but why would I go out and spend more money on the newer card when I could get the same performance out of the older one? Not that I know the first damn thing about video card performance, I am still running an 8800 GTS.

Less SPs, less Texture units;more core and memory clocks when you compare the 6770 with the 5850.So it will perform about the same( or slightly less).But it looks interesting with the 6750 - a good improvement over the 5770/5750.

6770 = 5770 not 5870, 5870 = 6870 which is not listed in the chart

@iboomer, look carefully. It's between 5770 and 6770 the chart is comparing. Judging by the specs, 6750 has twice the horsepower of 5750 and 6770 has 1.8x the power of 5770.
Think of it this way, it's exactly like how the current 5770 compare against 4870.

I must just be an AMD fanboy, but don't you understand the AMD naming convention? Obviously the 67xx will not be the top of the line AMD GPU meant to replace the 5870, the 68XX series will become available shortly after the 67s, of this I'm certain.

You missed the number. It's not the 6870, it's the 6770, meant to replace the 5770, not the 5870. It's pretty similar in performance to the 5850 much like the 5770 is similar to the 4850. I think the reason for these coming out before the 68xx series is to compete with the great value of the GTX460. I just hope it bring down the prices of the 5850's so I can CF mine.

because the 6700's series are replacing the 5700's series, not the 5800's. The 6800's will be replacing the 5800's when they come out.

Not much of a difference at all from one 5850 to a 6750 going by that chart except power consumption :-/

I'm glad u pointed that out..I was moronically confused as well. But now am pretty excited to see 5850 performance at 5770 prices. I may hold off on that GTX 460 as well.

Have to agree with you iboomer. I'm hoping to CF my 5850's as well. I'm actually extremely happy with just one. But if the price drops why not?

Hell the 6750 is a beast. If the price is right, it will be exciting. Unfortunately prices tend to reflect performance, which would put the 6750 around $300 to start and put the higher performance cards (6850/6870) in the sky.
