Hope someone with more knowledge of graphics cards could help me out with a recommendation for a replacement of an AMD Radeon HD 7870.

I'll give you the short story...

I have an older PC (5 years old) with an Intel i5 processor & 8GB RAM. It works super for everything I need it to do with business and gaming. I play a couple games like World of Tanks and those with similar graphics.

I have 3 monitors plugged into the graphics card. I actually use 4, but one is on a USB graphic adapter (long story).

Well, the card is finally starting to show signs of failing. Blue screens of death with errors relating to the video drivers. All monitors hooked up to the card totally going black, then coming back on. Displays being totally messed up when I boot, then I reboot, and everything is fine. Etc... Basically it's time for a new card.

Anyone have a recommendation for a similar card to the AMD Radeon HD 7870? I don't need a card for $600, maybe $300 maximum. And one with at least the capability to handle 3 monitors, preferably all with HDMI ports, but if not, I can get any adapters I need.

I have no preference to AMD or Nvidia, and if it's easiest to just purchase another AMD Radeon HD 7870, that's fine too. However, I was hoping for something a little "newer" and even something that runs a little cooler if possible (this one seems to throw out a ton of heat making the room very hot).

Thanks!

Thanks a bunch volkgren. I'll check out each of your cards. I don't mind going a little over $300 I guess, but like I said, this is an older computer and didn't want the best card out there for such an old system. Thinking of compatibility issues as well. I assume the power supply hookups to the card would be similar, but I'll see if I can find information on that.

Thanks again for the quick response.

[quotemsg=20920375,0,2528639]RX 580 or GTX 1060 would be the best for around that price. There are better RX 580 than the Armor if you really want a premium product. The Nitro+ is my favorite, but has a higher price tag. I listed the 8GB model below.

Video Card: MSI - Radeon RX 580 4GB ARMOR OC Video Card ($304.98 @ Newegg Business)

Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SC GAMING Video Card ($299.89 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: Sapphire - Radeon RX 580 8GB NITRO+ Video Card ($369.88 @ OutletPC) [/quotemsg]

Went for the Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro. It arrived today, and I installed it. LOVE the card so far. Graphics look a lot better, and the card doesn't sound like a hair dryer whenever I run anything graphically intense. Runs a lot cooler with the two fans I assume (the old card had only 1). Thanks again for the recommendation. It was exactly what I was looking for.
