The graphics card shows nothing on screen when plugged in. The card works in another computer, just not my Acer Aspire. I can't find anything in BIOS to help, I can't even get to the BIOS when it;s plugged in also.

I have been fighting this for sometime and refuse to give up.

My last plan is to update BIOS but I want to try everything else first.

The PSU is 630 watts which is more than enough. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I get no signal at all when it is plugged in. The card turns on though but no connection to the screen.

I believe I installed drivers last year when I tried it but I will try it again today. (I put it in my wifes computer a year ago when I couldn't get it to work in mine, and wanted to try in mine again)

Update:

I uninstalled my onboard intel graphics and installed the AMD graphics. The card is doing the same thing: blank and does not go to windows because I do not hear the startup menu. Any other advice?

Yes, I unplugged the vga port going to the onboard graphics, then I plugged in the dvi. I tried each port, it has 2 dvi's and one hdmi. Yes, I wiped the old graphics drivers. It doesn't even show the loading screen so I don't think it is even accessing the new drivers since it is not getting to windows.

goto your bios system and see the tab integrated graphics .------ disable.

I can't get to my computer at the moment but I have checked the BIOS before and there is no option like that. I will check again in a bit though just for verification.

I went to my BIOS. There is no tab for integrated graphics, there is for integrated peripherals. These are the options:

Onboard SATA controller ----set to Enabled
Onboard SATA mode ---- set to AHCI
Onboard USB controller ----- Enabled
Legacy USB support ----Enabled
USB storage Emulation -----Auto
Onboard audio controller ----- Enabled
Onboard LAN controller ----Enabled
Onboard LAN option ROM-----Disabled

Nothing in there for graphics. Main tabs are:

Main
Advanced
Power
Security
Boot
Options

The only thing I see regarding graphics is in advanced: it lets me change DVMT memory size and Video memory size which I have tried the highest options available.

It is an Aspire M3985. I found something online that said that these Acer Aspire motherboards have a locked BIOS and are proprietary so therefore you can not put a graphics card in them. I am now going to take the pieces out of this one and make my own build with a new motherboard unless you have found a fix!

Thanks for your help.
